System software is a type of computer software designed to run computer hardware and applications. A platform provided to a computer system on which other computer programs can run. System software acts as an intermediate layer between user applications and hardware. An operating system is a kind of system software. The operating system is used to manage all other programs installed on the computer.
The other purpose of system software is to translate inputs received from other sources and convert them into language so that the machine can understand. The BIOS (basic input/output system) is another type of system software that works when the computer system starts and is used to manage the data between the hardware devices (video adapter, mouse, keyboard and printer) and the operating system. The system software provides the functionality for the user to use the hardware directly using the device drivers program.
A boot is a system software program that can load an operating system into a computer's main memory or into random access memory (RAM). Another example of system software is an assembler that can take computer instructions as input and then convert those bits into bits so that the processor can read them and perform computer operations.

The device driver software is used to convert input/ output instructions of OS to messages so that the device can read and understand. 2. Application Software
Another category of software is application software designed for users to perform a specific task, such as writing a letter, listening to music, or watching a video. All of these requirements required specific software for each type, and this specific software designed for a specific purpose is called application software. Operating software runs application software on a computer system.
The difference between system software and application software is the user interface. System software does not have a user interface, but application software has a user interface for each software so that users can easily use the software. Users cannot see and operate on system software, such as an operating system, but in an application, software users can view and operate on application software using a graphical user interface. Users can also create their own software and use it for personal use.

3. Programming Languages
The programming language is the third category of computer software that is utilized by the programmers to write down their programs, scripts, and commands which may be carried out with the aid of using a laptop.
