I am starting the planning process of a courses platform.

Some of the systems will be Authentication, Chat between users, video streaming, in platform events and a dashboard with various stats.

I was thinking of Laravel + Vue + Firebase and Cloudflare (Both security and CDN).

Should I just keed the DB simple and run a MySQL server?

Could someone explain the difference between Software Design and Software Architecture?

More specifically; if you tell someone to present you the 'design' - what would you expect them to present? Same goes for 'architecture'.

Design: UML diagram/flow chart/simple wireframes (for UI) for a specific module/part of the system

Architecture: component diagram (showing how the different modules of the system communicates with each other and other systems), what language is to be used, patterns...?

Correct me if I'm wrong. I have referred Wikipedia has articles on

Software Design vs. Software Architecture

I was wondering if anyone can compare/contrast the differences between frontend, backend, and middleware ("middle-end"?) succinctly.

Are there cases where they overlap? Are there cases where they MUST overlap, and frontend/backend cannot be separated? In terms of bottlenecks, which end is associated with which type of bottlenecks?

Basically, Middleware links the Front-End and Back-End of the system together acting as a bridge between the Front-End and Back-End. It is often referred to as the glue between the data and the UI. The Middleware is therefore often where the business logic resides.

I got a question asking if Kubernetes could be leveraged with Salesforce. I don't know much about Salesforce, so I am unsure. I thought Salesforce was a hosted product.
