Holder: It is a unit of scalability for provisioned throughput and storage and it helps to partition and duplicate data in different regions. Items added to containers are distributed using logical partitions based on the throughput partition key.

Azure typically places applications in multiple data centers distributed around the world and is often called a global distribution. Cosmos DB uses this worldwide distribution concept to store data in its NoSQL database framework. Used to store items in Cosmos DB containers, these items can be partitioned based on the partition key so that certain items, including the partition key, can be stored on a partition. These partitions are also called logical partitions but are stored on a physical partition.

A container of Cosmos DB can contain millions or billions of rows or items, and these are broken down using logical partitioning concepts based on the logical partition key. Cosmos DB manages partitioning and other activities such as splitting, copying, and deleting data from different regions.

Step 2: Click Create an asset from a menu page.

Step 3: Now from the resources page, right-click on the database and select Azure Cosmos Db from the left pane:

Step 4: Enter project and example details on the "Create Azure Cosmos DB Account" page:

Step 5: If the needed user can select Network Connectivity from the networking page as below:

Step 6: Click on Review + create a button to validate the entered detail is valid or not:

Step 7: Now click on the Create button to create the cosmos database:

Step 8: Once the deployment is completed portal will navigate to the screen with the below message: “Deployment is completed.”

It builds applications that replicate data close to the user, are available worldwide, and have low latency.

Cosmos DB has high scalability because as the data grows it can be scaled to handle millions of reading and write requests per second from around the world.

As it is a NoSQL database, there is no need to keep data schema and users can save structured or unorganized data as required.

It has already been tested by other services provided by Microsoft such as Skype, Xbox, Azure, etc., so the stability of the database has already been tested.

It can be used with Apache Spark for analytical and data processing purposes.

We can conclude that it can be used for any type of data and retrieving data from this database is also fast due to low delay. Creating a cosmos DB from the Azure portal is also as easy as a user because no coding experience is required and Microsoft has paid for the service as you go so that increasing the data allows users to increase storage services and save money.
