In this blog, I am using a Dockerized ELK Stack that results in: three Docker containers running in parallel, for Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana, port forwarding set up, and a data volume for persisting Elasticsearch data.

The ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana) can be installed on a variety of different operating systems and in various different setups. While the most common installation setup is Linux and other Unix-based systems, a less-discussed scenario is using Docker.

To get the default distributions of Elasticsearch and Kibana up and running in Docker, you can use Docker Compose.

Create a docker-compose.yml file for the single node Elastic with Logstash & Kibana. The following example brings up three containers so you can see how things work.

Make sure Docker Engine is allotted at least 6-8 GiB of memory. In Docker Desktop.

Run docker-compose to bring up the three docker container Elasticsearch, Logstasg and Kibana:

Submit a _cat/nodes request to see that the nodes are up and running:

curl -X GET "localhost:9200/_cat/nodes?v&pretty"

Open Kibana to load sample data and interact with the cluster:

I have an existing Kibana service running on top of Kubernetes. How to install a custom Kibana plugin in it.

I tried to install the plugin by running the following command inside the pod. But the plugin does not work.

Should I restart the Kibana service for the plugin to work? If yes, how to restart the Kibana service on Kubernetes? Or, is there any other steps that I am missing?

I've just figured out that kibana alerting, the index threshold rule type does not support chaining rules (Suppose a situation that you want to calculate values from two separate queries and set a condition on the difference of those values)

Setting elasticsearch watcher might be reasonable but it needs subscription :D

I wonder if elastalert package would help us in having alerts on desired query rules? Any idea is appreciated.

Honestly I don't have any idea about ELK, I don't know from where to start and it wasn't stated in the job description. Do anybody have any idea about this ? can you send me anything that might help me, I am lost.

I am new to open distro. I installed elastic search and kibana on ubuntu 20 and trying to reach kibana localhost.After navigating port 5601 i can see the dashboard but kibana does not work. I used the sample docker-compose.yml file in this link:logz.io/blog/open-distro-for-elasticsearch/amp. After, reaching the localhost with "curl -XGET localhost:9200 -u admin:admin --insecure". I searched in the browser and could enter the kibana dashbord. The kibana status is YELLOW but when I click on the dashbord options on the left (e.g alerting). The process does not proceed and again it shows me the home page of kibana dashbord. Should I do something else to be able to use these options?

I am using MongoDB with ElasticSearch. This error occurs when I try to run modelName.import. What could gone wrong, the fact that it was working just fine.
