Scala is a strong statically typed general-purpose programming language which supports both object-oriented programming and functional programming. Designed to be concise, many of Scala's design decisions are aimed to address criticisms of Java.

To extract a database from SQL Server and load it into HDFS using NiFi, follow these condensed steps:

  a. ExecuteSQL: Connect to SQL Server and execute the desired SQL query.

  b. ConvertAvroToJson: Convert Avro data to JSON format.

  c. PutHDFS: Store the extracted data in HDFS.

3. Connect the processors to create a flow: Connect ExecuteSQL to ConvertAvroToJson, and Connect ConvertAvroToJson to PutHDFS.

4. Configure properties: Provide SQL Server connection details and SQL query for ExecuteSQL. Specify destination HDFS directory for PutHDFS.

5. Start the flow: Begin the NiFi flow to extract the data, convert it to JSON, and store it in HDFS.

I actually want to make a 3rd pt.package compatible to use with Spark. 

 I can't reimplement an algorithm from Python to Scala !

This works a bit differently and is not exactly the same as described in the original question.


Here Scala is in a separate module, that means scala can call the kotlin code without problems, since it’s just using a compiled library. Kotlin on the other hand can’t use the scala code, because it’s not yet compiled and you can’t add a dependency on the scala code without getting a circular dependency structure.


The original question is whether you can use scala, kotlin and java in the same module as you can do with only kotlin and java combined. This is not possible as yole explained.
